Job Summary:
  • Position Title: Kentucky Caregiver Program Coordinator
  • Division: ADS Work Location: Florence Exempt Status –Non-Exempt
  • Supervisor: Caregiver Programs Manager
  • Salary: $38,000 to $41,000
  • Position Purpose 

This moderately responsible specialized and technical work in providing planning and program assistance in areas of Aging and Disability Services. An employee in this class is responsible for developing and implementing human service programs such as health, mental health, and aging. Duties are performed under limited supervision.

Responsibilities/ Duties:
Essential:
  • Identifies service needs, resources, and barriers as they relate to grandparents and caregivers. Serves as program, service, and liaison for the Northern KY Caregiver (Grandparent) Program.
  • Provides technical assistance to contractors and other providers relative to services pertaining to the Kentucky Caregiver Program.
  • Provides assessment, support, training, and/or family consultation to caregivers via any means or modality that works for the grandparent or caregiver, including, if needed, a home visit (not frequent).
  • Develops, facilitates, and promotes support groups. Provides this function in conjunction with partners and directly if necessary.
  • Assists in establishing resource linkages among partner agencies to ensure accessibility and coordinate program efforts.
  • Facilitates community awareness of available services through public meetings, media presentations, correspondence, personal contact, and workshops.
  • Facilitate or participate on a frequent and regular basis in formal or informal communications with clients of the agency in group settings.
  • Prepare and deliver formal and informal presentations in a public environment.

Desired Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in human services, social work, or a related field; experience in developing and implementing health and human service-related programs; or any combination of training and experience tha meets the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Expected to exercise discretion and judgment about significant matters.
  • Considerable knowledge of the concepts, theories, and practices of human service planning.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance to local officials and other staff in the areas of program
  • development and implementation.
  • Ability to write and speak effectively; working knowledge of research methods; ability to conduct independent investigations and studies and to analyze and utilize results.
  • Skill in the interpretation of local, state, and federal directives, guidelines, and laws.
  • Ability to prepare plans in a neat, concise, and accurate manner.
  • Ability to make and verify arithmetic computations with speed and accuracy.
  • General knowledge of financial management.
  • Ability to use computers as part of everyday work.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision.
  • Ability to make sound judgments.
  • Good knowledge of safe work practices and ability to apply them in work.

Special Position Requirements:
Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner. Potential for some travel required for this position.

Work Requirements:
Work is performed typically indoors in an office setting. It requires intermittent standing, sitting, or stooping. Work requires consistent use of computer and phone systems as well as other office equipment. Some travel may be required.
